After soldering both sides of the panel, I draw the middle shape of the clear bevels and cut a couple different shades of green colored glass that will be beveled and bonded on top of the clear bevels later in the process. I do this at this stage because the next part is to putty both sides, let it set for a couple of weeks before cleaning.
The purpose of my art is to nourish your soul through the enrichment of your surroundings with the use of customized and intentioned light, color and movement. This is achieved by creating custom stained glass windows and oil paintings.

Northern Lights Design, Soldering
Now that the panel is all pieced together, the next step is to solder the joints, both front and back.
Getting the panel turned around to solder the back side is a very tricky maneuver for a panel of this size.

Northern Lights Design in Process
I have been piecing together the large Northern Lights stained glass panel. Here are a few pics showing the process.
The color pieces are hand beveled in a couple of spots to add interest, light play and depth. I am using zinc came for added strength and durability for this large panel.
Stay tuned for more pics as the project progresses.

Northern Lights Design
I am working on a large stained glass panel with a Aurora Borealis feel to it. My original design had a more flowing feel to it and the client wanted something slightly different which will still look good but it is not quite what I envision. It is a fun project.
These are part of the process so far and will post more images as the panel progresses.

Decompressing/Reorganizing after Installation
After completing the installation in Wenatchee of the sidelight panels and several smaller projects and repairs I am taking time to clean, reorganize my glass supply, and shop area.
It takes lots of time to do this but it will be worth it afterward!
