Human figure in glass

This design was originally an oil painting and I wanted to create it in glass.  I spent many hours hand beveling the figure and beveling colored glass and bonding it on top of the clear bevels.  Even the fingers are beveled.
I wanted to capture the depth and dimension of the figure from the painting into glass so the bevels are varying width from one side to another and even on the same side.  This gave the feeling of a drawing. The colored glass is blown glass from Fremont.  This was a very challenging piece and I enjoyed it very much.

  1. Do you do your own beveling? Is that flashed glass that has been beveled? Or did you silverstain 1/4 clear, then bevel off the silver stained side?

  2. Yes I do my own beveling which you can read about from a blog post in April titled Hand Beveled glass. I beveled flashed glass in this piece. Thanks for asking.

  3. Very well done. I also bevel. I like beveling however I do not do it very often. I am usually too busy painting, drawing or in general running the business. I did go back to April and read your blog about hand beveling. Thank you for telling me about it.

Good luck on selling your house, moving, and your new job. Change is good. It is an opportunity to grow.
